Sosa Commemorates 50th Anniversary with Cigar
Posted: August 11, 2014
Juan Sosa began growing tobacco in Cuba's Las Villas region in the early 1900s, and by the ‘20s his son Arturo and grandson Juan were manufacturing cigars for sale. In 1962, though, the revolution forced the family to flee Cuba, and eventually the Sosas started anew in the Dominican Republic.
To celebrate 50 years of making cigars, Sosa Cigars has released a limited-edition cigar called Sosa Classic Piramide No. 50. The torpedo-shaped cigar, which is 5 3/4 inches by 50 ring gauge, features a Dominican Republic binder, with a filler mix of Nicaraguan and Dominican tobaccos. Surrounding this blend is an Ecuador Sumatra wrapper.
Like so many other Sosa cigars, the cigar is being made by Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia. in the Dominican in their planta 4 factory, which is run by Juan B. Sosa.
The cigar carries a suggested retail price of $9.50 and will come in boxes of 16. Only 100 boxes of the cigar will be released, with each box individually numbered and signed by the Sosa family members.
Antillian Cigar Corp., also known as Sosa Cigars, will be distributing the commemorative smoke.
