Built in 1997 and operated by Rosewood Resorts, the Five Diamond-rated Las Ventanas al Paraiso is owned by business tycoon (and billionaire) Ty Warner and, if it bears a name whose English translation is "windows to paradise," the property lives up to the promise. A lazy afternoon by the pool is augmented by icy cocktails from the poolside bar, listening to music on pre-loaded iPods with headsets and cold, fruit-infused Popsicles crafted by the resort's kitchen. Feeling a little warm from the Baja sun? A pool attendant will gladly spritz you down with Evian.

Last but not least, the food is spectacular. There's a choice of dining options, from in-room or private patio service to informal and formal dining areas. The resort's private dining room, La Cava, shows off the 3,500 bottles of wine that are always on hand. Feeling a bit more loco for local tastings?
