Officials Call Foul on Jordan's Cigar

Michael Jordan might need a new nickname, at least for this week.

"Clear the Air" Jordan has been asked by San Fransisco officials to refrain from lighting up while he serves as a honorary assistant during golf's President's Cup, being held at the city's Harding Park.

The one-time-cover subject of Cigar Aficionado magazine was caught when an image of him smoking a cigar during a practice round was published in Tuesday's San Fransisco Chronicle.

City officials responded by sending a letter to the PGA Tour, reminding them that San Fransisco golf courses have been smoke free since 2006.

During an interview with PGATour.com, "Spare the Air" Jordan was asked if he would smoke a cigar while on the course.

"Well that depends," said the basketball legend. "Because I heard this is a public place, so they limit what you can smoke. I'm not even supposed to be smoking, but this was a practice round and no one said anything."

If Jordan chooses not to abide the smoking ban, he could face a $100 fine.
