Newman Adds Sizes to El Baton Brand

J.C. Newman Cigar Co., owner of the Diamond Crown and Cuesta-Rey brands, has added a double toro and robusto to its Nicaraguan El Baton line, bringing the brand to three vitolas.
El Baton debuted in October with the Double Torpedo, marking the company's first Nicaraguan puro, made entirely out of Nicaraguan tobacco.
El Baton was originally one of J.C. Newman's vintage nickel cigar brands from 1914, and was handmade at the company's Cleveland factory using Cuban tobacco.
According to Newman, the brand disappeared with the advent of machine-made cigars in the 1920s, but the new incarnation of the cigar is in keeping with El Baton's history as a bargain smoke.
