Cigar Store Opens in Grand Central Terminal

New York City's Grand Central Terminal is once again complete -- the landmark again has a cigar store.
The Grande Cigar opened in March. It sits directly across from Track 11, steps away from the side entrance of the popular Grand Central Market and a wine store called Grande Harvest Wines, which is owned by the same people.
"We've been in the wine business for many years now, and the two [cigars and wine] go hand in hand," said Jeremy Nevins, who owns the shop with his father, Bruce. "We've been in Grand Central for 10 years, and [cigars are] something people ask for all the time."
The Nevinses used to direct those looking for a cigar to the cigar shop down the hall, which was owned by the Frey brothers from Las Vegas, then its replacement, an arm of JR Cigars. Both closed. "We've been recommending the local cigar shops in the area," Jeremy Nevins said. "The comment we get all the time is 'we don't want to leave the premises.'"
The shop is small, as are virtually all the stores in Grand Central, the hub of much of New York's rail transport to Westchester County, New York, and Connecticut. The space used to house a Verizon store. When it became available, the Nevinses acquired it, filling it with a small but top-notch selection of smokes. On a recent visit, the shop had a few rarities, including Arturo Fuente Short Stories and Partagas 160s.
Grand Central no longer allows smoking, so there is no smoking in the shop. The store gives a 10 percent box discount.
