Cigar Dinner Raises $80,000 for Charity, page two

Posted: September 29, 2009

(continued from page 1)

In urging a largely West Los Angeles crowd to show its generosity, Reiser extolled the virtues of the Dominican Republic.

"Dominicans sheltered a lot of Jews during the [second world] war," Reiser explained, adding, "They tried to develop some Jewish shortstops, but that never really worked out."

Clearly, the whole cigar thing did as did the festivities at the Hotel Bel-Air. The hotel is closing this week for two years of renovation. The God of Fire dinner was the last party before the work begins. No word yet as to where the sixth one will be held.
