Bands for The Edge

David Savona
Posted: August 22, 2006

Rocky Patel's unbanded cigar is getting a minor makeover. The Edge, which has been sold naked since its debut in 2004, will now have bands on the foot of each cigar, a rarity in the cigar world.

The move will start with the next shipment of cigars from Honduras, which is set for the end of August or the beginning of September.

Juan Clemente cigars from the Dominican Republic have long been wrapped on the foot. Unlike The Edge, Juan Clementes have bands put around a bit of foil to seal the bottom of the cigar.

The bands for The Edge are meant to be removed before smoking. The box, blend and everything else will remain the same.

The Edge Lite will have bands as well.
