Altadis U.S.A. Inc. has introduced one of its parent company's European brands, VegaFina, to the American market. It has been on the European market for nearly seven years, and, according to Altadis, is the topselling non-Cuban brand in Spain, which is the biggest importer of Cuban cigars in the world.
Marketed as a medium-bodied, economy-priced cigar, VegaFina has a suggested retail price of $2.50 to $4 per cigar. The initial line will have seven sizes in its portfolio: No. 5, which measures 40 ring gauge by 4 inches; Corona, 43 by 5 3/4; Lonsdale, 43 by 6 1/2; Robusto, 50 by 5; Torpedo, 50 by 6; Toro, 50 by 6; and Churchill, 50 by 7 1/2. They come in boxes of 25.
