A Cigar Lover's Super Bowl
Posted: January 30, 2008
We take Super Bowl Sunday very seriously here at Cigar Aficionado magazine. It's a day when you should relax, indulge in rich foods and adult beverages, and root on your favorite team with a few great cigars.
As the Sunday contest pitting the unbeaten New England Patriots against the upstart New York Giants draws closer, the editors of the magazine have created this guide to help you prepare for the blessed day. We'll direct you to the appropriate Super Bowl cocktail, discuss the proper pint of fine ale and select the cigars.
We begin with Marvin R. Shanken, editor and publisher of the magazine, who has a bit of betting advice for those of you who enjoy gambling.
After you've decided on your wager, executive editor Gordon Mott, the consummate Red Sox enthusiast, shows how Boston baseball fandom translates to the gridiron.
Now prep your favorite chair and make sure the family knows that under no circumstance are you not to be firmly planted in front of some television somewhere at kickoff on Sunday…and maybe for a few hours before kickoff during the pregame festivities.
