Prometheus' Robusto II Lighter
Posted: April 14, 2010
Prometheus International Inc.'s new Robusto II lighter not only features a dual-torch flame, but also has a handy cutter built into it, eliminating the need to carry two separate cigar accessories.
The Robusto II's cutter, a 54 ring gauge single-guillotine, rotates smoothly from the body of the lighter so the cigar can be cut. After snipping the cigar, the smoker simply rotates the cutter back onto the body, where it locks in place.
The action of the cutter is smooth and the blade cuts well, though a single blade requires a bit more effort than a double guillotine.
The dual-torch flame, controlled by an ignition switch on the front of the lighter, is both wind-resistant and adjustable.
Introduced at last year's International Cigar and Pipe Retailers Association trade show in New Orleans, the Robusto II was originally supposed to be in stores last December. An unexpected delay in production, however, forced Prometheus to bump the release date back to January.
The Prometheus Robusto II is now available in stores, selling for a retail price of $75. It comes in satin chrome, nickel, gun metal and black, and like all Prometheus lighters, it's backed by a two-year limited warranty.
