More Connecticut For Camacho

Camacho Cigars, which traditionally has worked exclusively or predominantly with Honduran tobacco, has come out with a second major cigar release wrapped in Connecticut shade, and with Dominican tobacco as part of the filler blend.

This week the Miami company began shipping the new El LegendArio Connecticut brand, a three-size line wrapped in Connecticut-seed wrapper grown in Ecuador. The filler tobaccos are a mix of Honduran and Dominican leaves.

At the 2009 cigar trade show, Camacho debuted Camacho Connecticut with a similar blend. It was the company's first use of Dominican tobacco.

Camacho's newfound use of tobacco from the Cibao Valley of the Dominican Republic no doubt is reflective of its 2008 acquisition by Oettinger Davidoff Group, the parent company of Davidoff, which makes its cigars in the Dominican Republic, using mostly Dominican tobacco leaf.
