Alec Bradley Expands Family Blend
David Savona
Posted: February 5, 2010
The family is getting bigger at Alec Bradley. The company is expanding its Family Blend from one size to five, and more are on the way.
The Alec Bradley Family Blend began as a one-size line blended to the taste of the fathers of three executives at Alec Bradley Cigar Co. The 5 1/2 by 50 cigar, which has a truncated pigtail, is rolled in Honduras at Fabrica de Tabacos Raices Cubanas S. de R.L., and is made with Honduran and Nicaraguan filler, an Indonesian binder and a Honduran wrapper. It retails for $6.50.
Rubin intends to have four new sizes on the market in March, using the same blend as before. Three of the four will be parejos, and each will have the Family Blend's signature pigtail. A fourth size, a torpedo, will be made, after great debate at the company, in standard fashion.
The new sizes will measure 4 1/2 inches by 58 ring gauge, 6 by 54, 7 by 50 and 6 1/8 by 52.
