In an effort to help smokers affected by the recently enacted federal excise tax, General Cigar Co.'s Punch brand has created a coupon campaign that not only offers free cigars, but promotes spending at local brick and mortar tobacco shops as well.
The Punch Tax Relief program started on May 1, a month after legislation that raised the federal excise tax to roughly 40 cents per cigar took effect. It ends on July 4.
The promotion, redeemable only at participating tobacco shops and not online vendors, will give a free Punch cigar to customers who buy two smokes.
