Quiet seduction in Cabo San Lucas.

With as much buildup as the once-sleepy Mexican towns of San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas have had in the last decade, it's hard to imagine a resort locale that can do anything quietly, much less quietly seduce, but Las Ventanas al Paraiso can. And does.

With only 71 suites on the property -- the smallest measuring a 960 square feet and the largest nearly 4,000 -- and all of them offering panoramic views of the azure waters that Cabo is famous for, Las Ventanas caters to those who are seeking sun, sand and solitude.

And, perhaps, the perfect ambience for a little seduction.

"It's not that we don't allow children," explains the resort's manager, Christian Tavelli, "because we do, although we don't actively market ourselves to an audience that's likely to bring children or be looking for a true 'family-style' resort. Frankly, we'd rather see couples come and," he says, laughing, "make children here."

As marketing strategies go, it works. On a guest's first evening on the property, a butler -- after discerning the visitor's preferences for scent and ambience prior to her and her companion departing their suite for dinner -- sets the scene for a spectacular return. A scented bath is drawn and made ready, complete with floating candles and rose petals scattered on the built-for-two tub's surface. More candles -- scented -- and rose petals adorn the suite's floor and bed while chocolate truffles and a chilled bottle of Champagne wait nearby. Lighting a fire in the suite's fireplace or leaving the massive, ocean-facing sliding doors open a crack for the sound and scent of the sea is optional, as is a little stargazing with the assistance of the telescope aimed at the Mexican night sky.

By daylight, guests can relax at one of the resort's multiple swimming pools, take a stroll or horseback ride along the beach, play a round of golf on the Robert Trent Jones II-designed course, go yachting, deep sea fishing or snorkeling, or enjoy a soothing message at the property's renowned spa.

While few guests choose to leave the property once they arrive, one of the resort's drivers will happily take them into either sleepy San Jose del Cabo or the bustling, 24/7 atmosphere of Cabo San Lucas for some shopping, sightseeing or nightlife.

Another option for those who want to explore on their own is to rent one of Las Ventanas's privately owned rental cars; guests can choose between a Porsche Carrera or a brightly colored Mini Cooper convertible for their adventure.
