Court Blocks Smoking Ban

The Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, smoking ban passed in October has been repealed after a lawsuit filed by local restaurateurs. Mitchell's Bar and Restaurant, located in Pittsburgh (part of Allegheny County), joined neighboring Smithfield Café to challenge the ban, which eliminated indoor smoking in all workplaces, including bars and restaurants, as of May 1. Their efforts were backed by tobacco giant R.J. Reynolds Tobacco.
