Premiere Tasting of Cuban Por Larrañaga
Posted: September 15, 2006
Cuba's elusive Por Larrañaga brand has never been rated blind by Cigar Aficionado or Cigar Insider.
Outside of "Connoisseur's Corner," a special section of single-taster ratings of aged, banded cigars, this is the first time that we've rated recent-production cigars from this smaller Cuban brand. Por Larrañagas are produced in very limited quantities. They are found occasionally in Canada, Switzerland and the Middle East.
The brand dates back to 1834 and consists primarily of small, slender vitolas. Most are made by machine, leaving the Petit Corona as the only handmade size still in production. And it's quite good.
For the score and tasting notes, see the current issue of Cigar Insider.
