The Complex Cut

They're elegant, gorgeous and hard to use for the uninitiated. And they are the ideal complement for a luxurious smoking room.

Mastering the fine art of clipping your cigar with Davidoff's classic cigar scissors is a noble endeavor for any aficionado. Anyone can behead a robusto with a double-bladed guillotine, but it takes a deft touch to wield the scissors. Hold the cigar in one hand, open the scissors with the other, and press the open jaws of the blades to the wrapper, holding the scissors angled toward the hand holding the cigar. As you slowly close the blades, rotate the cutting so that the cutter becomes perpendicular to the cigar. The cut takes some practice -- you may wish to first seek guidance from a practiced hand at your local cigar shop -- but once you have the skill, you will appreciate the tool for how well it works.

The stainless-steel gold-plated scissors has a suggested retail price of $475. Cheaper scissors can be had, but they may not work as well.

Surgical scissors are cheaper. When you buy Davidoff, you've been had.
