CAO Flathead Adds New Size

CAO's Flathead line is expanding with a smaller size.
Sparkplug, a 4 1/2 inch by 50 ring gauge cigar with a pigtail cap, is the newest vitola in the squared-off, automotive-themed line from General Cigar Co.'s CAO brand.
The line previously came in four sizes, each also named after engine parts: V642 Piston, 6 1/2 inches by 42 ring; V554 Camshaft, 5 1/2 by 54; V660 Carb, 6 by 60; and a giant V770 Big Block, 7 by 70. They retail for $6.75 to $9.50 per cigar, making the new size both the smallest and the least expensive.
Flatheads feature a dark, Connecticut broadleaf wrapper. A Connecticut Habano-seed binder holds together the Nicaraguan-heavy filler, which also contains some Dominican tobacco. It's the third CAO release initiated by General Cigar since its parent company, Scandinavian Tobacco, acquired the brand in 2010. CAO Flatheads are made in Nicaragua at the Scandinavian Tobacco Estelí factory.
Sparkplug, which you will know by its lime-green band and box, is already shipping. It will retail for about $6.25.
