Miami Cigar & Co. Celebrates 25th Anniversary

A quarter century ago, Nestor Miranda was distributing cigars from the trunk of a car after a lengthy career in the liquor business. Two and a half decades later, his company, Miami Cigar & Co., distributes 20 million cigars a year.
To celebrate the milestone, the company is releasing a 25th Anniversary Humidor containing cigars from the La Aurora factory in the Dominican Republic and My Father Cigars in Nicaragua.
Jason Wood, Miami Cigar’s vice president, has enjoyed the experience of creating a two-factory project. “We are very excited to be working with La Aurora and My Father Cigars. Twenty-five years would not have been possible without the help of the León and Garcia families.”
Lacquered in a glossy black, grand-piano finish, the humidor can hold up to 75 cigars but comes with 20 toros, each one individually coffined with a secondary band denoting the country of origin. Only 500 were made, and they should be hitting shops in March.
This humidor marks the second time the company has produced a commemorative box. The Nestor Miranda 70th birthday release contained lanceros from both factories with similar secondary bands.
“What [Nestor and his wife] have been able to accomplish is something that I can only hope to duplicate in the 25 years to come,” said Wood. “They have provided us with a blueprint, [and] now with the help of everyone at Miami Cigar we look forward to an amazing run continuing their legacy.”
Miami Cigar is also releasing a separate exclusive for the Super Bowl. The Miami Cigar Super Selection will be 8 cigars packaged in a limited-edition, football-shaped box during a short northeast tour leading up to Super Bowl Sunday.
The football holds two sizes each of Casa Miranda Chapter II, Guillermo León and Aurora 107 cigars. Additionally, the football contains a 6 by 60 of the Nestor Miranda Rosado and 5 1/2 by 54 Nestor Miranda Special Selection Connecticut.
The limited-edition package has suggested retail of $90, but social media director Barry Stein stresses that the foot- balls will only be available at the actual events in Pennsylvania, New Jersey or New York. Anyone who wants possession of the ball needs to be in attendance at one of the events being held between January 25 and February 2.
In addition to distributing all of La Aurora’s brands, which includes Aurora 100 Años, Aurora 107 and Guillermo León, Miami Cigar owns and sells the Nestor Miranda Special Selection, Casa Miranda and Añoranzas cigar lines.
