Every year, tickets for the Big Smoke Las Vegas Saturday Seminars sell out quickly for good reason: There is a wealth of cigar education to be gained from attending.
Throughout the day this year, makers of Cigar Aficionado's top-scoring legal cigars for 2012 (the No. 2 cigar of the year was a Cuban) told the stories behind their celebrated cigars to the crowd.
The first to speak was Jorge Padrón of Padron Cigars, maker of the No. 4 Cigar of 2012, the Padrón Family Reserve 85 Years in natural wrapper, a Nicaraguan puro measuring 5 1/4 inches by 50 ring gauge that received 94 points. Next on the podium was Javier Estades and Larry Palombo of Altadis U.S.A, the men behind the No. 3 Cigar of the Year, the Romeo by Romeo y Julieta Piramide. And finally, José Ortega and the Garcia family, father Pepin with daughter and son Janny and Jaime, took to the stage to talk about the reigning Cigar of the Year: the Flor de las Antillas Toro.
Since many wanted to attend but couldn't, we thought it a good idea to bring some of the speeches to our readers. Enjoy the three videos below.
