New L’Atelier for IPCPR Attendees Only

L'Atelier Imports is adding a new cigar to its portfolio, and only retailers who attend this summer's International Premium Cigars & Pipe Retailers trade show in Las Vegas will get the chance to carry it.

Extension de la Racine ER13, Spanish for "extension of the root," measures 5 7/8 inches by 52 ring gauge, a nod to the classic Cuban Cohiba Siglo VI shape. Like all of L'Atelier's cigars, the ER13 blend contains some amount of Sancti Spiritus tobacco, a hybrid of the Criollo and Pelo de Oro seed varietals. For ER13, the cigar's double binder is Sancti Spiritus leaf grown by the Oliva Tobacco Co. in Ecuador. Additionally, ER13's filler consists of a combination of Nicaraguan tobacco that includes Sancti Spiritus leaf that was grown in Nicaragua by the Garcia family, owners of the My Father Cigars factory where the cigar is being rolled. The wrapper leaf for ER13 is Nicaraguan sun grown Criollo ‘98.

The ER13 will carry a suggested retail price of $9.25 per stick. The cigars will come in a slide-lid box of 20 whose look is based on that of the Siglo VI box. However, while Siglo VI cigars are bundled by a decorative ribbon, L'Atelier is using wax paper to hold together the ER13 cigars, which will also be individually wrapped in cellophane.


The ER13, which will be rolled at the My Father Cigars factory in Nicaragua, will carry a suggested retail price of $9.25 per stick.
The cigars will come in a slide-lid box of 20 whose look is based on that of the Siglo VI box.


For L'Atelier, which was started last year by Tatuaje brand owner Pete Johnson, ER13 represents the first cigar in a special project created exclusively for retailers who attend IPCPR. Only one size will be created each year, and the size will differ annually.

"We thought it would be a great draw to have that extra special item only available to people that attend the IPCPR," said Johnson. "Attendees spend a lot of time and money visiting the IPCPR, and we are hoping that this project is something they will look forward to every year."

L'Atelier debuted at last year's trade show and its flagship brand, also called L'Atelier, received an outstanding 92.7 average rating in a Cigar Insider vertical tasting. When the brand debuted it consisted of three sizes: LAT52, which measures 4 3/4 inches by 52; LAT54, 5 5/8" by 54, and LAT56, 6 1/2" by 56 ring. A corona gorda called LAT46 SS, 5 5/8 inches long by 46 ring gauge, was released earlier this year. The cigars are medium to full in body.

Bitting the cohiba style I hope he keeps his quality up to same standards so far have loved all three sizes of the original release
