La Bomba Prepares to Unveil Warhead
Posted: June 6, 2013
La Bomba, a full-flavored cigar brand named for explosive power, will soon have a new extension covered in dark Connecticut broadleaf.
601 La Bomba Warhead, a box-pressed smoke measuring 6 1/2 inches long with a 54 ring gauge, is being rolled at Erik Espinosa's La Zona cigars in Estelí, Nicaragua. The beefy smoke is made from a core of Nicaraguan filler and binder tobaccos and finished with a maduro wrapper grown in the open sunlight in the Connecticut River Valley.
The fat smoke is a limited edition. Only 2,000 boxes will be released, each containing 10 cigars. The cigars will make their debut in July. Espinosa Premium Cigars has yet to set a suggested retail price for the smoke.

The cigars are presented with creative and vibrant secondary bands resembling bombs. There are interesting details, including rivets, a "Kilroy was here" sketch, and a shark-toothed face on the head of the bomb, evoking the look of bombs and fighter planes used during World War II.
Like all La Bomba cigars, the Warhead has an exaggerated pigtail, made to resemble the fuse of a bomb, but this is the first La Bomba to be box-pressed. The cigars will also carry the date 2013, another first for the brand. The company said it was considering doing limited editions of this nature on an annual basis.
