Rocky Patel Adding Two Sizes to Bernie Parent Line
Andrew Nagy
Posted: March 13, 2013
Rocky Patel Premium Cigars is adding two additional sizes to BSB no. 1 by Bernie Parent, the limited-edition cigar it released last December with the legendary hockey goaltender, best known as the leader of the famous 1973 and ‘74 Philadelphia Flyers, nicknamed the Broad Street Bullies, who won two consecutive Stanley Cup championships.
The original BSB no. 1 (a nod to the hall of fame netminder’s jersey number) is a “winter friendly” 4 inch by 54 ring box-pressed robusto that consists of a Nicaraguan blend covered by Habano-seed wrapper grown in Ecuador. Only 500 boxes of the cigar, which sported a large band that resembled old school goalie pads and sold for $8.50, were produced.
While the blend was well-received, fans wanted larger sizes. In turn, Rocky Patel will release two larger sizes with the same blend: BSB no. 1 by Bernie Parent HOF ‘84, a 6 1/4 inch by 52 ring torpedo, and BSB no. 1 by Bernie Parent Between the Pipes, a 6 1/2 inch by 56 ring toro. Both will be box-pressed.
The HOF ‘84 (Parent was nominated to the hockey hall of fame in 1984) comes in a 12-count box while Between the Pipes comes in boxes of 10. Only 400 boxes of each are being produced, both at Patel’s Tavicusa factory in Estelí, Nicaragua, with the retail expected to be somewhere between $11 to $13. The new sizes will begin to ship in late April or early May.

Somebody should come up with a cigar called "High Stick." Just sayin', Nagy.
