Best Bargain Cigars of 2012

G. Clay Whittaker
Posted: January 8, 2013

Shelling out big bucks for a premium cigar can yield some delicious results, but this year’s Cigar Aficionado and Cigar Insider tastings have proven that a great smoke doesn’t have to empty your wallet. Our bargain buys list includes every cigar from the last year with scores of 88 points and up and suggested retail prices no greater than $6. Bargain debuts this year included choices from Brick House, C & C, CLE, not one but two Room 101 lines and Wicked Indie. And rounding out the list are familiar favorites such as Arturo Fuente, Cuba Aliados, Macanudo, Padrón and Tatuaje.

OH really, just one Cuban on your list ,? Who
are you kidding ? The whole list Is B.S..

David Savona May 17, 2013 3:16pm ET

This is a list based upon high scores plus low price--few Cubans meet the latter category.

Great job this year on the list and the top 10 cigar videos for 2012!
I have to agree with Mr. Savona that the criteria for the "Best Bargain Cigars" is pretty clear.

Great list, just picked up 5 of them and the two I have smoked so far have been very nice cigars. Although Guys comment is a little harsh, maybe a few more Cubans could have made the list. However, it seems like the whole list is based on cigars 6 dollars and under and my cuban purchases are usually 8 and up. 2 dollars can make a big difference in large boxes. Either way, great article, thank you!

In all fairness, Guy is from France and probably doesn't read english well. Either that, or he's just a troll.

Just loaded up on some of those Brick House Robustos....gret cigar for the money...great list.

Your advice on Uppmann 1844 Reserve Belicoso and Robusto was spot on; tried both and loved the flavor? Many thanks!

For the price, the Rock-A-Feller Connecticut Robusto is outstanding. The Maduro's are great too! December 3, 2013 12:15am ET

The La Reloba is amazing! December 3, 2013 12:15am ET
