New Leader At Habanos

In a reorganization of Cuba's cigar company, Walfrido Hernandez Mesa was officially named co-president of Habanos S.A. today. Hernandez will work alongside co-president Buenaventura Jiménez Sanchez-Cañete, a Spaniard who has served in the position since 2005.

Hernandez replaces Jorge Luis Fernandez Maique, the man credited with such successful product launches as the Cohiba Behike BHK, which was named Cigar Aficionado's Cigar of the Year in 2010. Maique, who had served as Habanos co-president since February 2011, will remain with Habanos in the position of commercial vice president.
