Berger & Argenti Releases Ultra-Thick FATSO
Gregory Mottola
Posted: August 20, 2012
What do you get when stuff a perfecto with tobacco until it’s a 70 ring gauge, and then flatten it? The answer is Berger & Argenti’s FATSO brand—or at least its thickest size.
FATSO is the newest cigar line to come from the mind of Michael Argenti, the creative force behind the Berger & Argenti brands, a company Argenti owns with his brother Albert and cigarmaker Kiki Berger.
FATSO is a series of four thick, rectangular and pressed perfectos that sport a Nicaraguan maduro wrapper, Ecuadoran Sumatra binder and filler tobacco from Nicaragua. The smallest size in the line weighs in at a mere 62 ring gauge. That’s the Dipper. At 4 inches by 62 ring, it even seems on the svelte side when compared to the 4 1/2 by 64 ring Puddin, the 5 1/2 by 68 ring Bufflehead or the 6 by 70 Butterball. They’re made in Nicaragua at Estelí Cigars S.A. and come in boxes of 16 that have holes drilled into the cedar for both airflow and distinction.
Argenti was one of many exhibitors at the IPCPR trade show handing out gargantuan cigars with ring thicknesses ranging from 60 to 70 in thickness—a trend that only seems to be growing.

The draw on a 70 RG cigar must be quite interesting. Will have to hunt one down soon.
Good to see an appearance from Mr.JD too, a privilege only usually bestowed upon those of r/cigars!

Many people have been saying that it is a very nice stick. Hope they hit it out of the ballpark with this one.
Best,
