Cigar Prices?
How can I avoid getting ripped off when looking to buy a cigar? Should I base the retail prices out of Cigar Afcionado?
Posted: July 30, 2012
The prices listed in Cigar Aficionado magazine and Cigar Insider newsletter are manufacturer's suggested retail prices.
They do not include state tobacco or sales taxes, so what you see in your cigar-shop humidor will vary depending on what state you live in, and what your tax rates are, especially your tobacco tax rate. That can be zero (Florida) or it can be as high as 50 percent of the wholesale price (Hawaii), depending on where you live.
