Custom-Painted Cigar Boxes

Art and cigars has always shared a certain kinship, and now Manhattan tobacconist Cigar Inn is offering a novel product that strengthens their ties: custom-painted cigar boxes.

Customers who purchase a box of cigars from the shop can, for an extra $20, have an image of their choosing painted onto the box’s top. Whether you want a personal photograph, famous painting or something else, the personalized paintings take about one to two weeks to complete.

All paintings are being done by New York-based artist Elena Yakovleva. Yakovleva, a graduate of Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, is the talented artist that Cigar Inn commissioned to paint a mural for its 1016 2nd Avenue location.

To submit a photograph, purchase a box of cigars from either Cigar Inn’s 2nd Avenue location or the one at 1314 1st Avenue.

Castro? Really CA? That's the one you had to pick?

Float Dub: No, that's Che Guevara. Amazing how you Cuba-haters have already made up your mind about that country and its government, and yet know nothing about it, or its people, or its politics.

It's Che Guevara. July 30, 2012 4:34pm ET
Che was one of the more ruthless mass murderers in relatively recent history. Pop culture has ignored the reality. Probably could have used a better reference.

Putting a murderer on a cigar box isn't my idea of art

"We don't need proof to execute a man. We only need proof that it's necessary to execute him. A revolutionary must become a cold killing machine motivated by pure hate." -Che Guevara
