Where to Smoke: Super Bowl Edition
Andrew Nagy
Posted: February 2, 2012
When the New York Giants and New England Patriots meet on Sunday for their second Super Bowl battle in four years, cigar enthusiasts across the country will be watching together, eating, drinking and, of course, smoking.
And while many cigar-heads will puff and party within the confines of the living room, plenty of men and women will also be venturing to their local cigar bar for Super Bowl blow outs that include big-screen televisions, cigar specials, cigar accessory raffles, food, drinks and most importantly, camaraderie.
We checked in with some of the cigar bars in and around New York and Boston to see what they had planned as their local teams duke it out in Super Bowl XLVI.
New York
Cigar Inn (Two locations)1016 2nd Ave between East 53rd & 54th Streets
and 1314 1st Ave. between East 70th & 71st Streets, Manhattan
Phone: 877-724-4277
The Fakih brothers of Cigar Inn are hosting parties at both of their Manhattan stores, including the location on 2nd Avenue that houses the world’s only Cigar Aficionado smoking lounge and humidor. The parties are set to start at 6 p.m. and cost $20 to get in. This gets you food, drinks and two fine cigars: a 6 inch long by 54 ring gauge limited-edition La Aurora Toro maduro and a Guillermo León Corona Gorda.
Five screens situated around the store coupled with a surround sound system means you won’t miss any of the sights and sounds of Sunday’s game. Add in American food, served buffet-style, libations such as wine and beer (plus you can B.Y.O.B.) and an excellent selection of smokes, and you have yourself a great deal.
Club Macanudo

Mauricio Cordoba, general manager of the club, says the Club Mac the party begins at 6. Inside will be two big-screen plasma televisions and a buffet stocked with American cuisine. The open bar will be well-stocked with premium spirits and wine, and each guest will receive three sticks when they arrive: a Macanudo Crü Royale, a C.A.O. OSA Sol and a Dominican Cohiba.
The price of admission may seem a bit steep ($135 a head), but Cordoba plans to raffle off cigar accessories such as lighters, cigars and portable humidors (in addition to fedoras), which means the ticket could very well end up paying for itself in the end. And remember these two words: open bar.
