Cigar giant Altadis U.S.A. Inc. is now a sponsor of the Cigar Rights of America. The Fort Lauderdale, Florida company, a unit of Britain’s Imperial Tobacco PLC, announced the move today.
“We
are pleased to announce our new partnership with Cigar Rights of
America, and we look forward to working together to help our industry,
and to build a more positive environment for all of us who appreciate
and enjoy the premium cigar lifestyle,” said Javier Estades, general
manager of premium cigars for Altadis U.S.A.
Estades
is new to the position of running Altadis’s U.S. cigar operations, and
he took over for Jim Colucci, who retired in July.
Altadis,
one of the largest cigar companies in the world, becomes the 35th cigar
manufacturer to join the CRA, which was founded in 2008. The company
makes H. Upmann, Montecristo, Romeo y Julieta and other cigar brands.

Finally. It's really hard to support a company that doesn't support our rights. Way to watch it all shake out before finally committing.
