Herklots Moving from Davidoff to Nat Sherman for New Position

Posted: May 12, 2011
Michael Herklots, the
longtime manager of the two Davidoff cigar stores in New York City, is
leaving Davidoff for a new position at Nat Sherman.
Herklots, who last served as general manager at Davidoff, has taken on a
new position at Nat Sherman called executive director, retail and brand
development. Herklots will be joined in the new position by his friend
Pat Felitti, the former general manager of Rothmann's Steakhouse in
Manhattan, who has taken the position of director of retail sales and
hospitality for Nat Sherman.
The staffs of Davidoff and Nat Sherman were
informed just before this story broke online. Herklots told Cigar
Aficionado that he tendered his resignation from Davidoff on April 7,
and said he will fulfill his responsibilities with Davidoff, which just
opened a new flagship store on Madison Avenue in New York City.
Herklots has been with Davidoff for nine years. Nat Sherman said
Herklots would likely begin his tenure with the company starting in
June.
"We're excited to have
Michael as part of the family," said William Sherman, executive vice
president of Nat Sherman Inc. "We're proud of the [Nat Sherman] name,
and the reputation. It needs a new sense of commitment to develop it and
bring it along. Michael's creativity and passion and sense of values
really help put the pieces together to reinvigorate the Nat Sherman
brand."
Nat Sherman opened its
doors in New York City in 1930 and created the Nat Sherman cigar brand
at the same time. Originally the brand was made in Tampa using Cuban
tobacco, but today it comes in a variety of non-Cuban styles.

Congrats Mike. I will miss you at Davidoff Columbus Circle when I go in but hopefully can visit you at Nat Sherman once in a while. Good luck.

This is shocking to say the least... For me Michael was the face of Davidoff and a good friend to my website. I hope he can do for Nat Sherman what he did for Davidoff. It will take a huge effort, one I have no doubt he can achieve.
