Our Guys in Havana

Cigar Aficionado executive editor Gordon Mott and senior editor Dave Savona traveled to Cuba the week of December 6 where they reported and blogged daily on the latest information about Cuban cigars, and the scene in Havana.

They visited the island's cigar shops, cigar factories and the tobacco fields in Pinar de Río.

I LIKE THE IDEA OF DAVE SAVONA AND GORDON MOTT
DOING REPORTS FROM CUBA. HAVING SEEN THEM ON THE CA VIDEOS ITS OBVIOUS THEY WORK WELL AS A TEAM. I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO THEIR REPORTS FROM CUBA AND POSSIBLY A SERIES THAT FEATURES DAVE AND GORDON.

When is the Habanos festival?

I am very eager to read the upcoming articles before I go to Havana in February.
David Savona December 6, 2010 11:57pm ET
Eric, you can get details on the Habanos Festival on our homepage. Check the news bar.

Thanks for your comments. Gordon and I are here in Havana, smoking cigars left and right and filling our notebooks with information. Gordon has already posted his first Cuba blog, and my first one will go up tomorrow morning. Lots of updates coming, so stay tuned.

Thanks David,

Any idea who will be on the ground in Cuba when the Habanos Festival comes around? I sure would like to meet with them.

My friend Joe and I (Canadians) have just returned yesterday from Havana doing almost the same activities. Wonderful friendly city, great dining and art as well.

I have become a fan of the Chohiba line of cigars over the past few years. Most recently, I have fallen in love with the Behike's preferably the 54 ring version. I was fortunate enough to get ahold of some pre-release Behike's. I was a bit suspicious of the validity of the product until I was able to compare them to the later released authentic banded versions. Have you heard of such a "Pre-release version"? I have a dozen of them and have compared them and they seem to be spot on with flavor, draw etc.

Does anyone know whether or not trade will begin to open up between the U.S. and Cuba again in the near future?
