Preview: Big Smoke Las Vegas Evenings Party
Posted: November 8, 2010
In one week, thousands will gather at the Venetian Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas for Cigar Aficionado's annual Big Smoke Evening party, expecting the best in food, drink and cigars.
And they won't be disappointed.
Some of the world's most enjoyed spirits, wine and beer brands have signed on to provide the adult beverages for this year's party, and they will be joined by eight of Las Vegas' most renown restaurants. And with 30-plus cigarmakers expected to pass out premium cigars, plus a handful of car and watch makers showing off their wares, partygoers will most definitely be leaving with smiles.
Each attendee will be receiving premium cigars handed out personally by some of the biggest names in the industry, including: Carlos Fuente Sr. and Carlos "Carlito" Fuente Jr.; Jorge Padrón; Rocky Patel; Carlos and Charlie Toraño; C.A.O.; Ernesto Perez-Carrillo; Jaime and Janny Garcia of My Father Cigars; Alan Rubin of Alec Bradley and Litto Gomez of La Flor Dominicana, to name a few.
Rounding out the cigars will be Avo, Ashton, Camacho, Casa Fernandez, Casa Magna, Cuba Aliados, Cusano, Diamond Crown, Hammer + Sickle, Hoyo de Monterrey Reposado en Cedros, H. Upmann Sun Grown, La Aroma de Cuba, NUb and the Oliva Serie G. For a complete list, click here.
A plethora of beverage makers will be at the event to help lubricate the conversation.
Scotch whisky makers Glenmorangie and Tullamore Dew will have a booth, as will the Canadian whiskey Crown Royal; tequila brands Patron and Milagro will be available; Ron Abuelo, Don Q and Appleton rums will be pouring; Cognac will be provided by A. de Fussigny and Courvoisier; and to round out the spirits, Bombay Sapphire gin will have a booth as well as three vodka distillers: Crystal Head, Hammer + Sickle and Ultimat. Foster's beer and Sledgehammer Wines will provide a lighter alternative.
Revelers will enjoy samples of food from Chef Charlie Palmer's Aureole, his first Las Vegas venture known for its fresh, creative interpretation of American cuisine. Andre's Restaurant & Lounge at Monte Carlo, started by Chef Andre Rochat, will serve up traditional French food.
The Asian bistro Tao will bring a taste of the Orient to the party, and the new Lavo will provide traditional Italian food.
Of course, no food goes better with cigars than a nice bit of beef, and so to cure this hankering, Delmonico's Steakhouse, Cher Emeril Lagasse's creation, will be offering tastes of steak infused with the bold flavors of New Orleans while Carnevino Italian Steakhouse provides a Mediterranean twist on the ingredient. Texas de Brazil, a Brazillian-American churrascaria (steakhouse), will also be serving cuts of meats cooked by its signature slow-roasted method.
