New Line from Ernesto Perez-Carrillo Scores 92 Points
David Savona
Posted: November 5, 2010
Ernesto Perez-Carrillo, the longtime maker of the La Gloria Cubana brand, has finally begun shipping his regular production cigar line, and it opened to a big score in Cigar Insider.
The E.P Carrillo Golosos, a massive cigar measuring 6 1/4 inches long by 60 ring gauge, scored 92 points in the October 26 Cigar Insider. The hefty smoke, which is made from a blend of Dominican and Nicaraguan filler, Dominican binder and a wrapper from Ecuador, is one of six E.P. Carrillo "core" cigars reviewed in the issue.
The Golosos was rewarded for its creamy, spicy flavor that has notes of leather with a black cherry sweetness.
This is the first regular-production smoke from E.P. Carrillo since he left the La Gloria brand behind on March 15, 2009. He has come out with three limited editions: the E.P. Carrillo Edicion Inagural, Short Run and Edición Limitada 2010.
The October 26 Cigar Insider also reviewed the E.P. Carrillo Edición Limitada 2010 Elencos, a 6 by 54 cigar made with a Cuban-seed wrapper from Brazil.
