Cigar Family School Graduates Second High School Class

Posted: August 27, 2010
Last week, the second class of high school graduates received their diplomas from the Cigar Family Charitable Foundation in the Dominican Republic. The school, created by the two families behind Arturo Fuente and J. C. Newman Cigars, gives an education to locals living around Chateau de la Fuente, the wrapper farm where Fuente Fuente OpusX wrappers are grown. The charity is also financed by cigar smokers from around the world.
"It was a privilege for us to shake their hands and embrace their families as these youths become the first in their families to attend college and improve not only their own lives but those of their families and their communities," said Carlos Fuente Jr. and Eric Newman in a joint statement. Fuente is the president of Tabacalera A. Fuente, and Newman the president of J.C. Newman.
