Skies are clear and daytime temperatures are in the 70s this week in Oregon's Willamette Valley. They have started picking Pinot Noir grapes, but the growers and winemakers are nervous. Mollydooker Finds a Home

After an acrimonious breakup with their American partner in Marquis Philips, Sparky and Sarah Marquis have scraped together enough money and called on some of their longstanding contacts in McLaren Vale to start up a new label. They crushed their first grapes in 2005, finished the wines in rented facilities and called their new wines Mollydooker (Australian slang for left-hander, which they both are). Read more
Henschke Getting Too Rarefied

Every time Henschke Shiraz Hill of Grace comes through my tasting room, it embarrasses me. It's not the quality; it may be Australia's single greatest wine. It's not just the price ($500 plus per bottle). It's a great wine, comparable to the titans of Europe and California that command those kinds of prices, and it has the track record to back it up.
