Every year presents its own unique set of challenges. Whether it’s heat spells, rain or frost, it’s always something. This year we’ve seen it all. Thank God for fog. We all enjoyed waking up to fog a couple of weeks ago. It was exactly the type of weather we needed. The grapes have enjoyed an extended period of cool to mild temperatures that has realigned the flavors and sugars. Read more

One recurring theme whenever the topic of New World wines comes up is the perception of some that so-called "fruit bombs" do not go well with food. This strikes me as today's virulent version of the old saw that wine must be dry to go with food. Read more
