CHATEAU LOS BOLDOS Merlot Requínoa Vieilles Vignes 2000 (89 points, $20)

This Chilean winery has quietly built a fine track record for its reds, produced in an Old World style. Ripe and dark, with blackberry and black currant fruit, and dark chocolate notes as well. Focused despite the density, finishing with a coffee edge. Nice concentration here. Very solid. Drink now through 2005. 10,000 cases made. Smart Buys.
