The Toraño family loves to use tobaccos from around the world in its cigars. It’s not uncommon for a Carlos Toraño cigar to contain leaves from five nations, so it’s surprising that it took until 2007 for the company to use Connecticut broadleaf as a wrapper. The result is the Casa Toraño Maduro Robusto, a dark, oily cigar with a nutty flavor and hints of sweet wood, caramel and cherries. It’s an exceptional maduro, one of only two on our Top 25 list. The Casa Toraño blend originally was something the family made for itself, then took on the road in the form of rolling shows around the United States. The blend was strongly received, so the company decided to make it commercially available.
