Black Pearl cigars are part of the La Perla Habana group of cigars. The owner, Doug Wood, entered the cigar market in 1996 and was forced to work as a chauffeur to make ends meet. La Perlas and Black Pearls are still not household names, but they do show well in our taste tests. This is the first La Perla cigar to make our Top 25 list, and it is a fine smoke. Rolled by the Toraņo family in Nicaragua, the Black Pearl Morado Torpedo combines Nicaraguan filler and binder with Cameroon wrapper, a blend that gives it a pleasant sweet quality.
