Counterfeit purchased in Amsterdam
This fake is unbelievably close. The giveaway -- which certainly made us do a double take -- is the color. A genuine Partagas D 4 band is fire-engine red, while this fake has faint tones of orange, a very subtle difference. Upon closer inspection, it's evident that the gold lettering and horizontal lines don't have clear resolution -- another minor deficiency considering that real Partagas robusto bands lack perfect clarity to their gold lettering or lines. The embossing of this counterfeit is also poor. As for the size of this band as pictured, the counterfeiters used so much glue to attach the band that we couldn't remove it without ripping it. Therefore, we cut the band at its bonding point, leaving it shorter but intact for the Counterfeit Gallery.
