Seagar's
Destin, Florida

Big Wine Room Stealing a gaze at the $47,500 crystal humidor, originally crafted for the Shah of Iran, is not the only reason to spend time with the fine and engaging staff of Seagar's. There's also the steak and seafood restaurant, an oasis within an oasis neatly tucked away within the core of the San Destin Hilton Resort, located in Destin Florida. Exuding the finesse of a fine dining establishment, coupled with the flair of a metropolitan steak house, Seagar's offers up delightful cuisine along with a stunning array of wines and exotic spirits -- all amidst a cigar-friendly dining environment.

Nestled within yards of the Gulf of Mexico, Seagar's offers a well-stocked humidor, maintained by cigar steward Mike Martines, to go along with its outstanding steak-house fare.

Start your evening with the lobster bisque ($8), which is laced with succulent lobster chunks and cream. Then you're ready for the steak, perhaps an 18 ounce New York Strip ($35) or a 14-ounce filet ($30). Lightly batter-fried cold-water lobster tails with drawn butter ($37) is a sheer delicacy.

Despite its location in the deep South, Seagar's has a working fireplace; it also boats a museum-lit view of the humidor. Furthermore, from the marquee table, which is nestled within the confines of the wine cellar, to any of the intimate booths or center stage tables -- few seats fail to give one an unobstructed view of the open kitchen arrangement.

Seagar's is noted for having more than 500 wines, claiming the finest selection of half-bottles in northwest Florida. The restaurant has an Award of Excellence from the Wine Spectator, the sister publication to Cigar Aficionado magazine. Seagar's also has the required array of after-dinner drinks, all the way up to Rémy Martin Louis XIII, at $115 a glass.

So whether you're after fine cuisine, a Padrón 1964 Aniversary Series Monarca ($25) or a Bahia Maduro Gold ($10), or just a fine place to spark up something from your own cache, Seagar's welcomes your presence and they won't balk if you fork up the cash to take the Shah's humidor home with you.
