Long Beach Places Freeze on New Cigar Lounges

Posted: Wednesday, March 18, 2009

By Alejandro Benes

The city council of Long Beach, California, voted 7-0 last night to prohibit the opening of any new smoking lounges in the city for a year.

Last month, the council, by a vote of 6-2, approved a revision of the city’s strict antismoking law to allow existing smoking lounges to operate legally. Long Beach has more than a dozen cigar and hookah lounges and tobacco shops.

For the complete story, see Tuesday’s Cigar Insider.
