Cigar Consumer Rights Organization Formed
Posted: Monday, June 02, 2008
By David Savona
Faced with a troubling outlook for cigar smokers, many of the leading cigar companies in the United States and a group of retailers have come together to form Cigar Rights of America, a nonprofit association aimed at fighting tobacco tax hikes and smoking bans.
The founding sponsors of CRA are the following cigar companies: Arturo Fuente, Ashton Cigars, Camacho Cigars, Cusano Cigars, Davidoff, Drew Estate, General Cigar, God of Fire, J.C. Newman Cigar Co., La Aurora, La Flor Dominicana, Oliva Cigar Co., Padrón Cigar Co., Prometheus, Rocky Patel Premium Cigars and Tabacalera Perdomo. Humidification systems maker Humidipak and retailers Corona Cigar Co. and Thompson Cigar are also founding members.
The CRA website, www.cigarrights.org, is scheduled to go live later this week.
