New Sizes of Punch, Don Tomás From General Cigar Co.

Posted: Tuesday, February 05, 2008

By Gregory Mottola

General Cigar Inc., a subsidiary of Swedish Match AB, will be releasing a few new sizes to the retail market by adding to its existing cigar lines.

The Punch Gran Puro brand -- a Honduran puro made in the Honduran American Tobacco S.A. (HATSA) factory -- is introducing a hefty vitola called the Sesenta. It measures 6 1/2 inches by 60 ring gauge and will retail for $5.25. The Sesenta brings the Punch Gran Puro portfolio to seven sizes. The brand, first released in 2003, is rolled with a notably dark, sun-grown Havana-seed wrapper farmed in the San Augustín valley of Honduras.

General is also beefing up its Don Tomás Clasico line with the release of the Toro (pictured), which measures 6 inches by 54 and retails for $4.30. It will be shipping to retailers in early February, bringing the line to eight sizes. Don Tomás Clasico is also a Honduran puro and is made at the Centro American Cigars S.A. factory in Danlí.
