Cuban Crafters Perfect Cigar Cutter

Posted: Tuesday, July 31, 2007

By Michael Moretti

Whether you're a seasoned veteran or a rookie new to the scene, every cigar smoker occasionally cuts too far. Cuban Crafters seeks to end all the needless tobacco letting with the Perfect Cutter.

Named not because of an overwhelming sense of self-importance but because the cutter is structured to make sure that each cut is performed at the exact same place every time -- a place on the cigar head that the designers deemed to be ideal. To accomplish this, they took a stainless steel-bodied double guillotine and added a backstop to the 54-ring gauge hole in the center where the cap of the cigar is placed. The idea is that the cigar head will rest upon the backstop positioning the blades so that you don’t have to. There is a smaller circular hole in the backstop to perform the same service on a shaped figurado cap.

The Perfect cigar cutter is a little rough around the edges, with an unfinished look and clunky action, but it does make a sharp, even cut. According to the company the blades are made from surgical steel so they should wear well.

It comes in two varieties. The CC 23Perfecto retails for $19.99 and has a squared-off look and the 24Perfecto retails for $24.99 and has a rounded appearance. Both cutters are available on the Cuban Crafters website for $14.99. For more information call Cuban Crafters at 877-244-2701.
