29-Year Old Wrapper Crowns New Partagas Cigar

The Partagas 150 caught the attention of the cigar
world thanks to its extremely old Cameroon wrapper
leaf. Now General Cigar Co. has tapped remaining stocks
of that 1977 wrapper to create the Partagas 160.
"When we debuted Partagas 150 in 1996, the lion's
share of cigar connoisseurs sought cigars in longer
lengths," said Angel Daniel Núñez, president of General Cigar. "At that time, we had the foresight to set aside a
limited quantity of smaller and medium size wrapper
leaves for continued maturation."
The cigars will be available in five sizes and hit retail
shops in August. They will sell for $18 to $30 each. The
binders are Mexican, and the fillers a mix of Mexican and
Dominican tobaccos.
