Balance a New Trend at Trade Show

Strong cigars were the name of the game at previous Retail Tobacco Dealers of America trade shows, but this year’s event showcased a plethora of rich, balanced smokes coming to market.
Three such cigars were the OneOff +53, the Maria Guerrero from Altadis U.S.A. and the La Gloria Cubana Reserva Figurado from El Credito Cigars.
Each cigar is made in a different country. The OneOff hails from Nicaragua, where its filler and binder are grown. The Maria Guerrero is a Honduran cigar, rolled at the Flor de Copan factory in the Central American country’s north. And The La Gloria is made in the Dominican Republic.
The cigars aren’t mild, but they certainly aren’t strong. Their flavors are sumptuous and complex, with a certain elegance. They have enough flavor for seasoned smokers, but they don’t have an excess of strength that would drive away a newer smoker.
“I wasn’t looking to categorize this as mild or strong,” said Ernesto Perez-Carrillo, president of El Credito, at the show.
The Maria Guerreros were tasted in the August 10 Cigar Insider, which also has more information on the La Glorias and the OneOff +53s. For more information, click here. Also in Cigar News:
