Superbowl Weekend With C.A.O.
Posted: Monday, January 19, 2004
By Michael S. Marsh As any avid football fan will tell you, if you're throwing a Super Bowl party, several items are practically mandatory: Five Alarm chili, barbecued ribs, and ice cold beer to name three. At the top of The Palms Hotel and Casino's list are C.A.O. cigars.
The Palms, owned by the Maloof family and one of the hottest hotels and casinos in Las Vegas, has named the Nashville, Tennessee-based cigar company as an official sponsor of its Super Bowl XXXVIII Weekend beginning January 31. C.A.O. joins Coors Light and Pepsi as one of three sponsors for the event, and will be providing cigars throughout the weekend.
"This is a great branding opportunity for C.A.O.," said Jon Huber, C.A.O.'s chief marketing officer. "It's a great opportunity to work with the Maloofs and a perfect match for C.A.O."
On Saturday night, C.A.O. will host the "Super Saturday Smoker," a private party of 250 high rollers and big-ticket gamblers. On game day, the company will supply cigars at four different parties in The Palms, each with around 400 guests. C.A.O. will have cigar rollers at each event, as well as promotional apparel and a commemorative cigar for sale that will feature a special Super Bowl band and wooden coffin.
This is not the first time C.A.O. has been associated with a sporting event. It has sponsored a Super Bowl party thrown by Fox Sports, All-Star games for the NHL and Major League Baseball, and the Preakness Stakes.
