C.A.O. Says Goodbye to Smoking in Boston

Posted: Thursday, April 17, 2003

By Michael S. Marsh

Like smokers in a growing number of cities around the United States, cigar lovers in Boston will soon find out what living in a non-smoking city is all about. On May 5, a smoking ban passed by the Boston Health Commission will prohibit cigar smokers in Beantown from lighting up in bars, restaurants and most workplaces. To help say goodbye to smokers' rights, C.A.O. International Inc. is hosting a "farewell to smoking" dinner on May 1 at the Fairmont Copley Plaza.

The event is being held in the Oak Room of the Fairmont, where guests will enjoy one C.A.O. cigar from each of the company's six brands -- eXtreme, Maduro, Cameroon, Criollo, Maduro and Gold. Along with plenty of cigars, those in attendance will also enjoy a buffet-style dinner, including crab cakes, beef tenderloin and a roast pig.

The party will have two themes and will take place in two rooms. In one room, martinis will be served as a live jazz band plays. In the second room, guests will sip Montecristo Rum mojitos while Latin bands provide added flavor.

Ticket prices are $100 before April 22, and $125 after. Advance reservations are required. For more information, call 617-267-5300, ext. 1165.
